Introduction

Cahuachi, a ceremonial center of the Nazca culture that lived its magnitude between 400BC. and 400AC. This place is located to the left margin of the Nasca river in the Nasca valley with an extension of 24 sq. km. Its few permanent inhabitants lived from agriculture; however, its population grew at times as this was considered a center of pilgrimage. People journeyed to this place in the dates of important ceremonial events; the Nasca lines and the giant dune were considered important elements of these journeys. This theory of pilgrimage is supported by archaeological evidence of the scarceness of the population in Cahuachi. In addition, this site had a necropolis that was used to bury royal families.

Description:

At an indicated time, a representative of the agency will contact you at your respective hotel to start the guided tour to the archaeological complex of Cahuachi "Ceremonial Religious Center and Capital of the Nazca Culture". This archaeological site is located 28 km southwest of the city of Nasca.
Cahuachi is constituted of a set of ceremonial squares, staggered temples, and pyramids; all which served as a place of sacrifices and offerings. Archaeologists believe that the inhabitants of Cahuachi were the ones who built the Nazca lines, as it was located very close to them.
After our trip to the citadel of Cahuachi, we will return to the city of Nazca to visit the Antonini Didactic Museum where all the objects discovered in the archaeological complex of Cahuachi are displayed, which include beautiful tissues from the Nazca and Paracas period, fine ceramics showing designs related to Nasca people daily activities, trophy heads in perfect conservation, impressive work tools, as well as, naturally mummified bodies and other remains found during excavations.
Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel at the end of the tour where our services end.
